Can I extend my event beyond the standard end times?
Yes, you can extend your event beyond 22:00 or 23:00 up to 02:00 at £2,000 + VAT per hour. The venue allows dancing until 02:00, making it suitable for late-night celebrations and parties.
What days of the week are available for evening events?
Evening events are not available on Fridays as the gallery is open to the public until 21:00. Events are available Monday through Thursday, and the venue closes to the public at 18:00 on these days, allowing for evening hire from 18:45.
Are there restrictions on New Year's Eve events?
The National Gallery is not available for hire on New Year's Eve due to Trafalgar Square celebrations. Road closures prevent suppliers from accessing the gallery, making events impossible on this date.
Do I have to use approved suppliers for catering and production?
Yes, catering, production, florist, and entertainment are in addition to the facility fee and must be provided through one of the venue's approved suppliers. You must select from their Accredited Supplier List, and cannot bring in external vendors.
Are there any restrictions on the types of events allowed?
The venue cannot host ticketed events as per gallery policy. This means events where guests purchase tickets for entry are not permitted, limiting the venue to private hire events only.
What is the booking process and when can I arrange a site visit?
After initial enquiry, the venue arranges a site visit of the spaces before placing your event date on hold. Contact the venue hire team directly on +44 (0)207 747 5931 to discuss availability and arrange your viewing.
